  • Sonic the Hedgehog - Marble Garden Menace
    Writer- Lew Stringer
Artist- Mike Hadley and Darron Stephens
Notes- There doesn't appear to be a place for this Story to happen. Because the Floating island is now known to Sonic, and he has met Knuckles, it must be after STC Issue #33/#34 and Knuckles still believes Robotnik was telling the truth and Sonic is the bad guy, so it's before issue #35/#36. However, It doesn't appear Robotnik is inside the underground base's prison, so it can't be between #34 and #35.
    Plot- (Spoilers)
From the underground base, Sonic hears from the Kintobor Computer that Robotnik is using a new badnik in the Marble Garden Zone, on the Floating island. However, Tails isn't around to fly Sonic in the Bi-Plane, so Sonic sets out to use the untested 'Hyper-Spring', after leaving a note for Tails to come and pick him up. Once outside the base, he finds Amy who tags along with him as he uses the Hyper-Spring. When they get to the Floating island, Amy enjoys the view but they are quicker attacked by a Spiker Badnik. Sonic decides to get Amy to just sit still and wait for him, but when a Point Dexter attacks and Amy stops it with her crossbow, she proves her use and Sonic allows her to come with him. The Animal that was trapped inside the badnik informs Sonic that Robotnik is testing out a new badnik, the Combinik which is a fusion of three different types of Badnik. As Sonic and Amy going hunting around, being careful not to alert Knuckles, who is correctly sure Sonic is an enemy. The ground suddenly gives way and Amy and Sonic fall into the underground tunnels, to find the Combinik. Sonic and Amy try to beat it, but Sonic's spin attacks don't damage it and Amy's crossbow bolts don't damage it either. They take the battle outside into the open where Sonic leads it to some mud, without long it gets trapped and then destroyed, freeing the bird prisoners inside. Just then Tails turns up in the bi-plane to take them home. As they leave, Knuckles appears, thinking how lucky Sonic was not to have met up with him.
