The Metallix started as one single Unit. Metallix, the Metal Sonic was created to be more then a match for Sonic and almost had him beaten, until Sonic was able to travel though time and wipe out Metallix's creation by editing the time stream. However, Robotnik didn't stop there, and later created a new Metal Sonic. This was destroyed easily by Super Sonic. Later, two Metallix appeared at once, and it was shown to be the work of the Emperor Metallix, who had taken Robotnik's old Special Zone base and planned to Take over the world himself. In the end, by teaming up with Robotnik, Sonic was able to defeat them. However, Grimmer had plans for the Next Stage of Metallix. The Metallix Mk2 wasn't based on Sonic, but the strength of Knuckles. While only one of these was seen to have been build, and destroyed by Sonic on the Draken homeworld, the wrecked parts re-appeared in Mobius to be rebuild and used against Sonic.
